Pinar Civan

Hi, I am Pinar, having lived on three continents and in seven countries, I am a nomad at heart and a nomad in life, currently sharing my time between Paris, Istanbul and Bern.

My painting process is purely intuitive and instinctive. I have always been attracted to abstract expression, and I lately enjoy incorporating some subtle figurative elements in my paintings.

In a chaotic harmony of colors, brushstrokes, hidden words and drawings I paint stories, moments located between a disputable reality and imaginary. I seek to create a musical and lyrical image through emotions.

Born in Istanbul, I live and work between Paris and Bern. Being a nomad, living and moving between cities, countries and continents is core to who I am and what I create.

​

I get inspired by people, their stories, cultures, languages, landscapes, dances and I interpret them in my own abstract way.

​

I love experimenting with less common materials and I try to include materials found sur place wherever I happen to be painting. That makes most of my artworks multi layered with textures, colors that bleed through with the effects of nature and time and lots of details.

I have participated in international art fairs and exhibited my artworks in Paris, Milan, Madrid and Istanbul
